After the success of last weeks article, Tarot and Pregnancy, I had a lot of email requests and questions about getting pregnant. It seems that infertility issues are becoming more and more common and I do believe that Tarot can really help in this area. Now it is a very emotionally charged area to explore and often not one you can do yourself (if you are trying to get pregnant). If that is the case, find yourself a good Tarot reader and get them to help you with this question. Some Tarot readers will not explore anything to do with health so check first.
I personally have had my own journey with infertility.
After 3 years of trying and 3 miscarriages I was now in that small percentage of women who ‘have an issue’. Repeated testing including genetic testing revealed nothing. After three years of trying and losing and experiencing all the grief and emotions that come with it, I was at my wits end. Most of my friends had children and and all I wanted was to hold my own fat baby in my arms. What made it worse was that my Natural medicine business was full of women wanting to get pregnant (where I had great success), pregnant women and babies. Talk about ironic!
When I pulled Tarot cards for some of those women I could immediately tell what was wrong. But could I pull Tarot for myself? I tried over and over again but the Pentacles cards that kept coming up never made sense to me because I was too emotional. In hindsight it made perfect sense.
I decided it was probably time for IVF and made an appointment with my doctor to get a referral. He looked at me and then suggested that perhaps I was Celiac (an autoimmune condition where a person cannot tolerate gluten which is found in wheat, spelt, barley and rye) because I was Irish. Celiac disease occurs most frequently in those of Irish descent.
Now I had done the blood test and it can come back negative but he suggested that it was not always accurate and to try a gluten free diet for a month. I gave up gluten and my life transformed. All those niggling issues I had for years disappeared overnight. No more aches and pains, hormonal imbalances and digestive upsets. I suddenly had energy! 4 weeks later I was pregnant and carried my son to full term. I now have two boys. Since then when women have issues getting pregnant I ask them to take a close look at their diet. It can really make a difference.

So you want to get pregnant and you are suffering from Infertility than know that Tarot may be able to help.
The question you should ask is very simple – ‘What are my blocks to getting pregnant?’.
Find quiet space where you will not be disturbed. Turn off your phone. Breath and feel calm inside. As I said before, this question may be too emotional for you and you may not be able to interpret the cards. Do not worry. This is very common. It is hard to tune into our intuition when we are emotional and stressed.
Ask the question out loud three times, breathing deeply in between, shuffle the cards and pull 4 cards. Turn them over. Then look at them as a whole and what message they are revealing to you. Do you see a pattern? Is anything jumping out at you? Does something look unusual?
The Tarot cards can identify the infertility blocks very clearly but you may need someone who can be objective to read them. If you cannot interpret them take a photograph of them and go and see a Tarot reader.
Here are some guidelines to interpretation if you feel you just need a little nudge. They are my interpretations that I have developed over the years…
Major cards – If you have two or more Major Arcana cards there is def an issue and depending on the cards intervention will need to happen. This means tests, doctor visits and incorporating natural medicine also into your lifestyle. If you have only one Major Arcana card there is an issue but not as overwhelming. You an decide to pull more cards underneath each Major Arcana card to find out more about its message. I tend to pull one at a time until the message is clear.
Minor cards – If all the cards are Minor then there are issues but ones you can solve by changing your lifestyle.
Here are some hints…
Pentacles would indicate a change in your diet or living arrangements. If you live in a damp house and suffer from it, this could be a block. If your diet does not support your body, you will have to change it.
Wands would indicate a block in your energetic body. It can also indicate issues in the blood. I would recommend blood tests (especially iron) and to see an energetic therapist such as an acupuncturist or homeopath.
Cups would indicate an emotional blockage. Perhaps there is fear or grief? Perhaps there is a ‘story’ in your body that needs to be felt or expressed. I often recommend counselling or psychotherapy if there are lots of cups cards. I also recommend hormonal tests as they can be out of whack. Lots of cup cards can also be something as superficial as needing to drink more water.
Swords would indicate a mental block. This is different than emotions. A mental block is usually a subconscious decision of yours or your ancestors to not get pregnant. I find homeopathic miasmatic treatment works well here as well as counselling or psychotherapy. Often a mental illness can come under this category and may need to be explored also.
So that is an idea how Tarot can help you find out more about your infertility. Of course always go and see medical specialists. I am not a doctor. If you are under 35 and have not been able to get pregnant for a year/over 35 and have not been able to get pregnant for 6 months then please seek help. As a woman you know that the biological clock is ticking.
Since I am also a qualified Natural Medicine Therapist with a degree in Health Science and Homeopathy here are my 11 tips to getting pregnant. I have had great success over the years helping women get pregnant.
MY 11 TIPS TO GETTING PREGNANT
It goes without saying that if you are trying to get pregnant then you really should start to understand your body, your signs and signals and your menstrual cycle. There is a fantastic app called FERTILITY FRIEND that can help you do that and I think it is one of the best apps to help you get pregnant.
Also it is fairly obvious that if you have an ongoing issue such as underactive thyroid, PCOS or an autoimmune issue you must get this under control first.
The advice below is general and not specific. I am not a doctor, (though I am a qualified Homeopath) so go ask a professional before you make any radical changes.
ONE – DIET
Diet is super important. If you are overweight you must focus on losing weight asap as it can impede fertility.
I tell ALL my female patients to go off sugar and gluten. Strictly. Apart from the fact they will feel much better, the chances of conceiving are much much higher. For the rest of the diet I advise to eat fresh and avoid processed foods. Organic is great if you can afford it. Drink plenty of water too – the body functions optimally when hydrated.
Imagine a baby conceived on Cornflakes, McDonalds and soda pop! Expect that baby to not have the strongest vitality. Or imagine a baby conceived on organic food, fresh fruit and veg rich in antioxidants.
TWO – ALCOHOL
It is very simple – stop drinking – 100% if you are trying to get pregnant. Numerous studies show it affects hormones and fertility in both men and women.
THREE – CAFFEINE
Caffeine also decreases fertility so give it a miss. Cut back slowly and look for alternatives. Also once you get pregnant, avoid caffeine the first three months.
FOUR – SUGAR
Sugar is the WORST thing for hormones. Sugar is one of the worst things you can put in your body. It is now linked to obesity, PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), diabetes, hormonal imbalance and so much more. Avoid it like the plague. Enough said!
FIVE – SMOKING
Do I need to say anything? Don’t!
SIX – BLOOD TESTS
Get blood tests to find out where you are in terms of health. Sperm tests can reveal a lot, alongside blood tests so get the partner, if he is male to test. Some women choose to get pregnant alone with a sperm donation or their partner is a woman so obviously some tests may not apply.
Typical blood tests I recommend for a women trying to get pregnant are the following:
FBC – Full Blood Count. Can reveal a lot about your blood and antibodies.
TSH, T3,T4 Reverse T3 – Checking your thyroid which can really affect fertility
Vitamin D
Folic Acid
Vitamin B12
Ferritin (your Iron storage)
Hormone profile (Testerone, Cortisol, Progesterone and Oestrogen)
If you have a history of miscarriages I would also recommend checking the following tests explained in THIS ARTICLE
SEVEN – SUPPLEMENTS
Once you have your blood tests then you can take supplements to create optimal levels of vitamins and minerals in the body. On purpose I have not given dosages for all of them because taking supplements needs to be done individually, preferably with the help of a professional Naturopath, Homeopath, Doctor or Gynecologist.
Supplements I would recommend to help increase fertility are:
High dose Folic Acid
A good all round multivitamin with at least 50mg of each of the B Vitamins inside a daily dose
Vitamin C 1,000 mg a day or more
Vitamin E 400 iu a day
Fish oils with high levels of DHA in a daily dose
The minerals Zinc, Selenium, Calcium and Magnesium
If you have a history of miscarriages consider daily Aspirin but consult your doctor first.
I buy all my supplements from the online natural health superstore iHerb and you can join and get 5% off your first order with my personal code (QNJ592) if you want *
EIGHT – HERBS
I love herbs and believe they are truly a miracle when given at the right time to the right person. Fertility herbs can include Red clover, Dong Quai, Cimicifuga, Red Raspberry, Red Clover, Vitex, Withania and Motherwort. Thanks for my herbalist Vivienne Campbell I got pregnant with only one blocked Fallopian tube thanks to small daily doses of Calendula tincture. Herbs are fantastic and often as effective as drugs and hormones, so consider seeing a professional herbalist.
NINE – ENERGETIC MEDICINE
I truly believe acupuncture and homeopathy can work miracles and I highly advise you to find one in your local area, especially if they specialist in fertility. Energetic medicine can remove fertility blocks, increase energy and get the body primed for a healthy baby. For example, world famous homeopath Liz Lalor helped me a lot during my fertility journey. Chinese medicine herbs have a long history of success with fertility so if you fancy trying acupuncture, see if they also dispense herbs.
TEN – FUN
It goes without saying that if you are super stressed, anxious and worried, then you are going to find it harder to get pregnant. Hard to tell a woman who really wants to get pregnant. I get that. I was there. But I cannot emphasize how important it is to ‘let go’ sometimes and just have fun. A weekend away. A special treat. A night out with the girls. Of course the above advice is general and not individualistic. For that approach find a good therapist near you can can assist you.
ELEVEN – EXERCISE
If you exercise you get your blood pumping, your lymphatics cleaning and a healthy body. Find a fun way to exercise but you gotta do it. I did pole dancing!
If you want to be a Mammy, then I wish you love, good luck and a healthy baby.
