I want to introduce you today to Joe Mullally, my long time Tarot mentor. It is thanks to Joe that I am a professional Tarot Reader today.
I met Joe at a Body Mind Spirit show in Dublin back in 2006. He was promoting his divining and land clearing workshops. On a tiny white piece of paper at the far end of the table was a line of poetry and a phone number. I recognized the poetry from a famous healing book I was reading and picked it up. I had such a STRONG urge to ring the number and after the weekend did so and Joe answered. Years later I asked Joe why he left a tiny piece of paper that nobody would see. He explained that he was ready to take on a new student but only those who were also energetically ready. It was like a test … and I passed. Apparently I was the only person that picked up that piece of paper and made the phone call!
I began my training with Joe from that time on wards in his mountain home above Blessington in Co Wicklow, Ireland.
Over the years Joe trained me in many different subjects and one of his biggest influences on me was in Tarot. He introduced me to professional reading in an unorthodox way (read here for the hilarious story), psychic studies, divining, house clearing, hypnotherapy and so much more. For me it was so essential to have a mentor in the world of Tarot – not only a teacher but someone who could guide me in the ups and downs of reading the cards for another person.
Learning how to set boundaries, understand my ethics, increase my intuition, ground, cleanse and clear my energies. He introduced me to the world of ‘that which is beyond this one’ and opened my eyes to so many energies and realities. When you learn Tarot, you realize you are learning so much more than symbols on a set of cards.
Why is a Tarot Mentor important?
A mentor has a deep understanding of the cards and has life experience reading and teaching the Tarot. They have read for all types of people, situations and issues.

In regards to Tarot, Joe got me to read the cards for him to show me how to find my own reading style and techniques. He taught me how to see the cards in everyday life and incorporate them as living energies.
Joe taught me more than just Tarot and it all helped me become a better reader by understanding the energies and forces that exist around us. I have been on overnight vigils with Joe in ancient Irish tombs, ghost busting in old churches and creating altars to the nature spirits. I have make healing flower essences with Joe which I still use today.
